The Lehigh Valley Business/Education Partnership continues to expand its influence by conducting initiatives that support the organization's mission and adding value to its members. The partnership has successfully linked almost $1.5 million in corporate contributions to local school districts over the past two years through the PA Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program. These programs provide desperately needed additional funds to schools while enabling businesses to save tax dollars as they support educational initiatives.
The Partnership has strengthened its role in providing important information to businesses and educators about key education policy issues. Forums on issues such as No Child Left Behind, school governance, referendum and school funding have been held in concert with other key organizations such as the Lehigh Valley Workforce Investment Board, the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation, the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and other statewide organizations.
The LVBEP's many activities and initiatives are outlined here. You'll see that the Partnership is being recognized as an important catalyst for linking business expertise and funds with educational needs and direction. The Partnership's success over the past two years is a direct result of the leadership of its Executive Director, the hard work of the LVBEP staff and the solid support of its members and Board of Directors.
I hope we can count on your support to ensure that LVBEP initiatives continue to grow and meet the educational and business needs in the Lehigh Valley. If you are currently a member, please renew your membership this year. If you are not a member, you should seriously consider becoming one. The Lehigh Valley needs your help to strengthen its educational programs and ensure that graduates have the necessary skills to keep its businesses and economy growing.
